When you're going to try getting a job in customer service, you'll need to make a customer service cover letter. Some of the things they'll be looking for are:

1. You work well with people
2. You have experience where you had to take guff from people and you were patient.
3. You like working where there are a lot of people.
4. You don't get easily irritated by people
5. You have had customer service experience before.
6. You are well-suited for a position where you have to service a lot of people.
7. You are quick and efficient.
8. You like talking on the telephone.
9. You have experience talking on the telephone.
10. You don't have a quick temper.

If you can say yes to all of those questions, then they might consider hiring you. The best way you can prove to them that you do those things is, you come up with specific examples which illustrate each of those key points.

A professional cover letter will always have many action verbs in it. Instead of saying, I worked at an office. I mailed letters. I did copies. You must think of actions you did that resulted in good things. In what particular instances were you patient? In what ways did you have to deal with people on the phone? How exactly did you go about keeping your patience when someone started yelling in your face? That's what they want to hear.

So, when you're writing a customer service cover letter, that's what their minds will be checking off. You might even copy and paste that list over to Notepad (so the formatting is removed), then copy and paste it over to an MSWord template or document.

Then go one-by-one and tell them why you're considering employment with them, in particular. Do some research on their exact company name and learn more about how they got started and what they do. Go to their website and read their mission statement. Use all the words from their mission statement in your cover letter. Mission statements are a great thing to study if you want to write a good cover letter. Be their missions, and they'll hire you.

Then, explain exact examples from your past that show that sort of attribute. At the very least, you might find that you aren't at all well-suited for the job you're trying to get. If the thought of working for a place makes you feel sick to your stomach, it might know better than you do that you would HATE working for such a place. Don't apply for a job you might get if you DON'T WANT IT; that's called integrity. So, while you're writing your customer service cover letter, you might find that you would hate working in customer service. In that case, don't apply for the position. Just because you NEED a job doesn't mean you have to take a job that you would hate.
