How To Find Cover Letter Examples On GoogleTo learn more on effectively marketing yourself with a professional cover letter, CLICK HERE. A cover letter is oftentimes more important than your resume when people are determining who they'll hire. Particularly when you've just gotten out of school, you won't generally have impressive work experience. At this point, you fear that there's not even one good thing you could put on your resume. In many ways, your college degree isn't even a good selling point at this moment in your life, either. A degree with no experience says to a potential employer, "This kid has no experience, and all he knows is just what came from books." With the field so competitive, nowadays, you need to have your best foot forward. Therefore, you must start to study to see what an example cover letter should look like. The one who knows what a good cover letter should look like is a secretary, now called an administrative assistant. If you can find an administrative assistant cover letter, on-line, then that will help you determine what a good cover letter should look like. Open up Google, and type "cover letters samples" in the search gadget. This should give you a example cover letter to work from. Any letter that you see, copy it to the clipboard and past it into Start->Program Files->Accessories->WordPad I use both NotePad and WordPad when I'm doing research. If you want to strip things like fonts, bold, or forms out of the junk on a webpage, try pasting into Notepad. I keep Notepad up just to do that, and I use it a lot. Secondarily, you might wish to hold on to the form of a letter, how it looks on the page, and pasting it into WordPad might do that. If you paste into Microsoft Word, MS Word is almost too smart. First, it will take forever for Word to translate all the junk (tabs, tables, forms, etc.) into Word format. If you use WordPad, instead, it will be much faster, and will have less problems with formatting than if you used Word. Since the form that is used with an example cover letter is very important, you want things like left-justification, or right-justification to come through when you paste it. Better than just an example cover letter, however, is a Microsoft Word TEMPLATE. If you get a Word Template, then that's kind of a fill-in-the-blanks page that will greatly increase the speed of creating a resume. However, when you're just sampling to see what an example cover letter should look like, WordPad is good enough. Then, once it has pasted into WordPad, then you can try copying the cover letter example over to a blank Word document. Basically, the things to look for when you're writing a cover letter are¡ neatness. Make sure that it's centered well on the page. It should have a nice balance of whites and blacks if you squint your eyes. You'd be surprised at how a good well-balanced cover letter will be read more often than a sloppy one that's poorly centered in both directions. |
