Finding Resume Cover Letter TemplatesTo learn more on effectively marketing yourself with a professional cover letter, CLICK HERE. Since a cover letter is so important, and since at the beginning you're probably not an administrative assistant fully versed in the way a cover letter should be formatted, a resume cover letter template can act as if an assistant just wrote it for you. You'll actually find hundreds of templates which are all ready for your use on the office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/default.aspx site. You'll notice that it will have examples of templates that can be used to submit directly, afterwards, with an on-line job application. When you're writing cover letters, the best cover letters will be the ones where you poured your heart into it. If you don't really, really want that job, they'll know that. The most important thing is to keep ready for just the right break. Once it occurs, don't miss a second because it might be the only chance you'll get at that job. There will be a ton of jobs that you apply for where it will be hard to be 100% enthusiastic about because something deep down just cringes at the thought of taking a job like that. However, at the beginning you might not have much alternative. If you've never had a job before, and you just got out of college, and the last job you had you were working at McDonalds¡ then you're probably not going to instantly get a job as a brain surgeon, if you get my drift. The thing to do is truly assess what skills you're capable of. Don't exaggerate, or you'll end up not being able to do the job you're saying you can do, anyway. However, and most importantly, don't UNDER-estimate what you can do, either. Underestimating is the thing it's only too easy to do. One-by-one, write down the things you can do well and once you think you have them, start putting them into a resume cover letter template, filling in what is applicable in the right places. Since, at the beginning, there won't be an enormous number of things that will look good, be general in your skill set. Your big advantage will be when you're writing cover letters. That will be the best chance you'll have to catch their eye¡ the cover letter. Stick with verbs. Good strong verbs which explain your personality well. Once you've written the cover letter, and you've decided that you've highlighted all of your best features, the resume package should include the cover letter, your resume, and at least one letter of recommendation. If you're not applying for a position such as sales person at Home Depot, you should send it to them in an executive-styled folder that's particularly designed for sending resumes. Most people suggest that your resume should only be one-page long, but if it's more than that, put a staple through the two pages at a 45-degree angle in the upper-left-hand corner of the papers. You notice that I said "The Two Pages". Never make your resume be more than two pages long. Never staple the cover letter to the resume, then, mail it in a 9" x 12" envelope. If you used a resume cover letter template, it should look nice, and be presentable. |
